When it comes to getting the inside scoop for everything Banks Journal, who better to speak to than the team themselves? Next up is our National Sales Manager and legendary friend, Tom Goad. We asked him for some personal insight and highlighted favorites for the season and he answered in style.
What about the collection this season excites you the most?
Plain and simple: Pastels! They make me feel like I am in an Impressionist painting. Who doesn’t want to talk to someone that makes them think of Monet’s Waterlilies? Also, it's so hard to curse someone out when they are wearing a bright color.
Would you say your style is more classic and neutral or bold and expressive?
I would like to say classic but normally I am a bit bold. Let’s keep lying to myself and say it’s classic.
Spring/summer or fall/winter to dress your best?
Both for sure! I never say no to a new place and contrary to my Southern California upbringing it gets cold places, especially in the Fall & Winter months. So it’s quite fun to layer up with a lovely outfit to prevent the weather from touching your skin. While you do the complete opposite for Spring & Summer you want to make an outfit that’s light and airy and easily taken off to jump into a body of water.
All-time favorite banks Journal Piece?
That’s pretty tough! I have been working here for 4 years and we have produced some stone-cold killers! I think my two favorite pieces would be a purple primary beanie from summer 21 & Raleigh jacket from fall 21.
Favorite shoe brand to give your Banks Journal outfit some kicks?
To start off that I ain’t a sneakerhead. They’re lovely and all but not for me. I flock to the stuff that I can support my local cobbler with. So my go-to is the RM Williams or scourn estate sales/Grailed for a pair of Gucci Horsebit loafers.
Fuck! It’s Spring! Go get your surfboard strap that fucker to the top of your car and drive 3 hours (ETA estimated via LA origin) to the beautiful country of Mexico. Walk into a local Zapateria and cop yourself with a pair of huaraches. I prefer a closed toe with 3 or 4 eyelets for a shoelace.
What do you enjoy most about working at Banks Journal?
The best questions for last?! I see what you’re doing here! I would say that regardless of where I am I could hop on the phone with anyone from our Banks Journal family (past or present) and it will bring a smile to my face.
Also, it’s a majestic feeling seeing someone in a Banks Journal article of clothing. We all love the brand as a new puppy and it’s amazing to see that people dig it!
